PUBLIC STATEMENT

Over the past week, there have been reports on some websites, suggesting that President Mugabe has held talks with Dr Simba Makoni, Interim President of Mavambo.Kusile.Dawn (MKD), in connection with Simba succeeding Mugabe, both as leader of ZANU (PF) and of the country. These reports have generated intense debate among Zimbabweans at home and all over the world.

Mavambo.Kusile.Dawn (MKD) interim President Dr Simba Makoni on Friday morning, 9th July 2010, met Prime Minister, Mr Morgan Tsvangirai, to reflect with him on, and give MKD’s assessment of the national situation.

Dr Makoni’s meeting with the PM is part of courtesy calls on leaders in the Inclusive Government. The MKD leader, who has requested to see other national leaders, appreciated the Prime Minister’s availability, and said he is waiting for responses from the others.

First Anniversary of the Launch of the Party

Building the Party
Today, Mavambo•Kusile•Dawn (M•K•D) marks the first anniversary of its launch at Stodart Hall in Mbare, on 01 July 2009. Over the past year, we have invested effort and resources in building our Party. We are setting up Interim Leadership Structures at all levels of party organisation, i.e. province, district, ward, village or branch. As much as possible, these structures are following the local government boundaries. The interim leadership teams are mandated with explaining our vision, values, principles and policies; and bringing people into the Party. We also maintain constant communication with members and activists outside the country, especially those in Botswana, South Africa, UK and USA; with the aim of building the Party thereto.

PUBLIC STATEMENT ON CIVIL SERVANTS STRIKE

Dr.  Simba Makoni, the Interim President, and other members of the National Steering Committee of Mavambo•Kusile•Dawn  Party, met with leaders of Zimbabwe’s civil servants on Wednesday, 17 February 2010, to hear their grievances, in light of the strike action that has now paralysed government business all over the country.
